Am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with their “special” names. Angry Fussy Paws is so perfect for Elvis and his angry eyebrows. LOL!
Thanks so much, and I hope you all get a good night’s sleep tonight.

We only give our kitties “tuna tea” if they behaved themselves *all day.*

They don’t get tuna tea often. 😛

Wow! I’m first for comments. Don’t you just love how kitties can hear a little click from two rooms away? Special fluffy is caught in the act by Elvis! No kitty can be as full of riteousness as Angry fussy paws!

I don’t use tuna often and my cats totally ignored the can-opener for ages (they were raised on dry). Then I opened the first can of tuna and that totally turned around!

All my kitties loved tuna and canned fish. My last kitty, Sasha, was passionate about salmon in any form. She would glue herself to my legs at the slightest hint of salmon.

When I open tuna and do not plan on giving my (6) cats any… I use a manual can opener. When they get the tuna (feeling guilty because they smell the tuna) or I open a large can of something… I use the electric opener to a chorus and leading and chirping whether or not the can actually is tuna… and then I must give them even if I was opening tomatoes!

I don’t eat tuna much anymore, but I used to a lot and would always chop onions to put in it. I had a cat that would always come around when I chopped onions, I figured it was because he thought I was going to have tuna. 🙂

Aww, Puck doing the Very Loud and Insistent Purr on the counter is adorable, and Elvis glaring at him like he’s just sneaked in late from a party with lipstick on his cheek. XD Every cat owner knows the Song of Expectation when the can opener is heard. Mine can hear it when I take a can out of the pantry or the can opener out of the drawer and is Right There on top of things so see if tuna or salmon is involved. If it isn’t, I have to let her smell the lid before she’ll believe it. Oh, kitties.

Spent 20 minutes trying to convince Madame Radar Ears that she can have ALL THE BEET JUICE she wants is a losing proposition, though. I have long thought of vac sealing or bottling small bottles of cheap tuna water. That way when you forget to run water and forgotten to sing loudly so they will ignore you, you have one more defense.

Many moons ago when I was young and single and still living with my parents, we had a little fluffy mix breed dog and a Snowshoe cat that not only recognised a can opener, as well as the sound of a ring pull can but would come running when they heard the sound of their fork (a big chunky scoopy fork we used just for their food) being taken out of the drawer!

I’ve always recognised it as a cassette recorder (my Dad always carried one in his briefcase for whenever he got ideas when he was out and about). But I’m still waiting for the comic that explains HOW a deaf cat can make use of an audio recorder…

Our first cats, George and Gracie, would split a can of tuna once a week. Gracie would only accept white albacore in spring water and reserved the right to approve even the fish. If it didn’t meet her standards we got a look like we were trying to poison her. Of course that meant George go the whole can.

Ha this so reminds me growing up with a cat. Cat always got the canned tuna juice. Then I moved away and it became a habit to drain it into the sink. BIG mistake when visiting the old homestead and I drained the can into the sink. Mother had a small fit, “How could you do that? You know how they love it!” We still laugh about it. Funny thing, my current fur balls turn up their noses. So the dog gets the tuna juice!

Special Fluffy Puff, Angry Fussy Paws: we learn more about the CN cats every day. I remember my childhood cats losing all of their dignity and self-control at the sound of the electric can opener, regardless of where they were in my house. The sudden change to unabashed shows of feline affection was always hilarious. Best part of the cartoon? “You probably call everyone that.” Again, the CN reporters totally rock.

When I had 8 (eight) cats, I had to not only dilute their tuna ‘juice’ but put it down in at least 4 dishes otherwise they would be all over each other and spill it. Weirdly though none but my mom’s cat would eat any of the actual tuna MEAT that might be there, they’d all consume the juice and leave the bits of flesh.

I’m in the minority here — Fido and O’Malley stick with dry food, turning noses up at anything from cans. O’Malley even walks away from the dry treats (Fido on the other hand, can’t resist them).

Not just you! One of my cats, who is very much a Special Fluffy Puff, won’t touch canned food, no matter what kind I try. The other cat, my own Angry Fussy Paws, loves canned food. Whenever I give A.F.P. some, I always spoon some out for S.F.P., even though I know she won’t eat it, just because it feels unfair to give some to one and not both.

I really like the detail that Lupin needs Puck and Elvis to confirm the opening of a can for him–presumably because he’s deaf. No cat left behind!

It’s such a real little world you’ve built within the strip. Well, you know, as real as a comic strip about talking news reporter cats can be.

My fluffbutt Rocket enjoys tuna water, but she REALLY goes nuts for this weird stuff my boyfriend sends her. He lives in Japan, and they make a minestrone for cats. Seriously. Tomato-y base with bits of chicken in it, etc. Rocket can identify those packets from every other snack packet at a distance of 30 feet. She comes RUNNING if I so much as wave one outside, and will push the empty bowl around the living room for 10 minutes, making sure she got all of it. Silly cat!

Isn’t it funny how cats get so possessive and jealous of each other? Some days I feel like all I do is try to give all 4 of mine equal attention. I love the “pet” names for Elvis and Puck.

Gleek! So many things to love about this comic! Your facial expressions have come such a long way since the first comic you posted! Loving the interaction between the buys in this one, too! 😀

Never thought of giving the tuna water to the cats; we usually squeeze it into the sink and give them each a bit of fish. I’ll have to see how they like the water part next time. ☺

Guess I’m lucky to be vegetarian! My cats don’t have a clue what the can opener is for! They are so used to my foods that they don’t even bother! I actually have tried to give them tuna or hamburger or even steak and they all look at me suspiciously…as if I am giving them something bad! “What is this foul substance you call toona? It is NOT food!”

You know what one of my favorite things about this particular strip is? How Puck cuts off mid-purr. It’s always fascinated me how cats can do that. And then start right back up again once they’ve decided that they don’t need to go check out whatever that noise was, like nothing ever happened.

Dusty Cat is a no-go on tuna water, milk, or any meat juice, but LOVES bonito flakes & shrimp. Think he’s from the east of the International Date Line. Allie Cat, however, will gladly handle those silly juices. She’s an all-American kitty! Anyway, “bottoms up!” to the boys! And a fine day to all!

If you’re referring to Japan and the Orient, that would be west of the International Date Line. East of the line would be California.
