Puck with the traditional fake noseglasses……how INSPIRED is that. You, dear lady, are a genius.

Somewhere there is a photo of our dear late Roscoe (the sweet, gigantic Siamese we had when I was a kid, who lived to be 17) wearing a very small pair in the late 1970s. I have no idea where my parents found them (and they were a little different, the mustache and eyebrows were black plastic rather than full fuzz) but I wish to heck I knew where they had gone to! And the photo too! If I come across it, I will definitely post it.

Groucho Marx glasses were a running gag in my family for about a solid decade. Everyone had them, including small ones for children and–apparently–pets.

Now that you say that, as I picture them again in my head–I am 99% certain you’re right!! That makes so much sense, and my parents had a fondness for Mr. Potato Head too, ha!

I love Puck on the table nonchalantly reading a newspaper to get closer to the bacon target. And then in disguise. Elvis and Lupin have a more direct approach which seems to have worked well for them!

Charlie, rescued off the streets of our Overland Park KS neighborhood, survived eating dog food or people food. One evening I left the dinner table to get something, & Charlie pulled my slice of roast beef off my plate, splat on the floor. I picked it up, & washed it off. However Charlie
never cared much for bacon, & usually snuggled in my wife’s lap.

Our late great Charlie rather be in my wife’s lap than nip the bacon. But never leave the table with your plate of roast beef slices. Charlie would have them on the floor, with a wet splat sound.

We eat vegetarian at this house so the cat doesn’t think that people food is proper for cats to even consider. However, should he ever get into the doggy treats…

      September 7, 2015, 10:16 pm | # | Reply

I lived briefly with a vegetarian roommate who wanted to become a “fruitatarian” (which I’m not sure exists in human nutrition) and who had 5 cats whom she wanted to feed as vegetarian as possible: tuna-for-cats (i.e., offal), cabbage and wheat flour is what she gave them. I gave my two cats regular cat food, and her 5 mostly wanted inside my room when I fed them, not surprisingly! Luckily, the house had an overgrown backyard with plenty of field mice, otherwise her 5 cats would have starved….

That’s terrible. Cats need taurine else they can end up blind or have heart failure. Taurine isn’t present in fish either.

Apparently your cat hasn’t discovered lasagna yet. Our cat (and the dog) goes nuts over lasagna. But he’s only interested in the sauce. He’ll lick every drop of sauce, and leave a pile of naked noodles lying there!

Poor Pucky! Perhaps if he agrees to resume grooming duty, Elvis will snag a piece of bacon for him?

If I leave the bacon skillet on the stove too long after it has cooled down, my tabby boy Jasper will sneak onto the counter and lick it clean. He also loves ham.

I like Lupin’s tail in panel 7. I don’t ever make bacon, but my cat Maxie is quite fond of its close relative sausage. We had some tonight in pig-in-the-blankets, one of her favorites.

My good woman, it is hard to come up with enough praise for the way you portray your three incredible cats! Not to mention Tommy, Tabitha and Sir What’s his name. (Sorry, old ladies do get forgetful!) There are just some things that this or that cat will find impossible to resist. I had a cat who would kill for peas in butter sauce! He was given some every Christmas Eve on his birthday!

When I’m frying bacon, my big boy Buddee, (about a 16 pound black and white big boy), sits next to my feet constantly meowing….until I ‘drop’ a piece of bacon on the floor. I have the cleanest floor in front of the stove after cooking bacon!

Puck behind the newspaper just makes me laugh! Our black cat also “hides” in newspapers, behind fast food bags, and anything else he can in order to “stalk” food on the table. He is particularly fond of slithering up to fast food fish sandwiches and chicken. We have photos of him with his head and upper torso stuffed inside a McBag that holds a fish sandwich.

One little troublesome question though: if Lupin had his back to the people when he was commandeering the bacon…how did he know they were yelling at him? :-/

    • Dew
      September 10, 2015, 12:10 am | # | Reply

From the looks on the Man and Woman’s faces, their yell was loud enough that Lupin felt the yell through the vibrations in the table.

      • Georgia Dunn
        September 10, 2015, 12:26 am | # | Reply

That may be it in real life too. Lupin is the one who gets in and out of the most trouble, and his deafness really only seems to come into play when he is fast asleep or we are talking at an average level around him. If it’s happening in the same room and it’s a big enough display, he notices right away. Kind of like the earlier strip about the cricket. He finds bugs more often than Elvis does. (No one beats Pucky). We did have men working on the roof recently, who kept calling to him in the windows and could not figure out why he would not turn around, ha! Otherwise though, there is hardly anything he misses. This is very close to how he behaves–minus a little suit and coffee cup! Haha!

    • Georgia Dunn
      September 10, 2015, 12:11 am | # | Reply

Even in real life, if there’s a big enough commotion he seems to pick up on vibrations or sudden movements in his peripherals. The moments I write with him in the comic are silly, but they’re still based closely enough on what it’s like to interact with him that sometimes I write in moments like this without realizing. His other senses are sharp and he picks up on a lot. Lupin’s deaf, but he doesn’t miss a beat! 🙂
