I’ve found that stuffing a bunched-up sock into the crack under the door wedges it it enough to stop the rattling. Just necessities & mothers & those sorts of things. Thought I might pass that along. 😉

Watch out – I tried this with an old bathmat folded in half (large gap) and they just spent the night trying and failing to pull it through the gap, shredding it in the process. Enjoy your quiet sleep to muted door rattles, rested until you wake up to a soft snowfall of blue bathmat shreds.

Just get a Ssscat. Motion sensor air spray can. Works like a dream and is harmless.

My better half is a guest at Comic-con right now and with all the fun stuff going on down there he just sent me an excited text that BCN was up. We’re texting back and forth about our favorite details right now. This is how obsessed we have gotten. 🙂

That is excellent!! The Man has been able to go down there in past years for work, filming for video game companies he worked for and the like. Sadly not this year, but perhaps again one day! I am excited that with everything to see there, your better half still has time for BCN!!

Too funny! So much to see! Lupin in the last panel, Elvis settling down with his book and reading glasses, Puck jiggling the door, “who’s-their-whiskers”. Lots of fun.

Elvis with his book and blankie and glasses and clock would be a great small picture for a button or pendant. Just exactly that pose, with the speech balloon trimmed away. I would probably never take it off.

When our son was a baby (almost 18 years ago!), we had to keep our door closed as well. My hubby put a strip of insulation foam down the side of the door frame. Made it a little harder to close, but the rattling totally stopped.

The disgruntled look on Lupin’s face in the first panel! (and the joyful glee in the last…) Puck brushing his teeth! And reaching under! And whispering! …And basically just Puck! And Elvis fluffing his pillow! I love it. Also, love the nice surprise of seeing it as I’m going to bed *g*

Given I’ve just had Loki yelling at me through the door since 5am, this was decidedly topical! Brilliant as ever x

Absolutely adorable, read, re read, and re read again and I’ve only just woken up (British time) that’s my timetable for the morning out of the window.

And if I don’t get my sixteen hours I’m not myself either!

The final panel is adorable on so many levels! Elvis with his little reading glasses, Puck lifting up one eye of his eye shades to talk (I do that myself), and of course, Lupin walking the back of the couch like a tight rope! But one has to wonder…. What does a cat need with an alarm clock?

“Morty” moved on to a different relative when he was sure he could do the bassinet trick, jumping from floor right into it with a newborn. (He was a 20 lb cat) Mort lived in four family households through his life, and ended up with me where he finished his days sitting like a Buddha on the couch. A true family cat.

This was priceless. I had a horrid day yesterday and I overslept feeding time here. The look on Lupin’s face in the first panel was a mirror image of the 2 that I saw when they finally woke me up. I also loved Elvis in the last panel. Who knew he meeded reading glasses? Thank you for giving me the smile that I needed to face today.

Thank you for another wonderful start to my day! I just LOVE the look on Lupin’s face in the last panel! Sheer kitty joy! And Puck (who is secretly my favorite but don’t tell the others)…if I don’t get my sixteen hours…I’m cracking up! Love it as usual, Georgia! You made my day! Again!

A series of cats over the past 20 years have put a permanent groove on the bottom of a solid oak bedroom door. Stuffing a sock in the door at the knob is the only thing that stops the rattle.

I’m not a cat owner, but I love this strip. I look forward to Mondays and Thursdays. I love how each cat has their own personality and that’s evident in the last panel. I think it sums each of them up perfectly. I also go through once and then reread and catch all the little details. I think that’s what makes the strip. The little details because you can actually imagine a cat thinking or doing that. Love the strip!

Thank you so much Candi! (Incidentally, that is my mother’s name! Only she spells hers with a ‘y’). I really enjoy trying to think of small details and little jokes to tuck into panels. I love when people pick up on them and enjoy them!

Puck reaching under the door reminded me of a moment in the lives of our three; the two-month old kitten poked her head under our bedroom door, but got her head wedged tight. The poor thing mewled piteously but with some slow and careful pushing and prodding and lifting the entire door, she got out unscathed. Never tried that again 🙂

    LOVE this one.

Though this would never work with my cats. They don’t rattle. They complain. LOUDLY. (One is half-Siamese. The other has learned bad habits from her sister.)

Puck’s comment needing 16 hours of sleep takes the cake. 53 years ago when our first son was born, sleep was in between attending young Dan’s needs. Then 2 years ago after major back surgery, our Shellie [my shaving
supervisor] had to wait until surgery healed before again taking up half of my bed again.

Pucky is just purrfect today; love the whispering, brushing his teeth and not being himself without 16 hrs of sleep, me too!! Elvis & his glasses look like a true curmudgen worrying about who’s taking care of things if he’s not there. He’s so indispensable!

But who’s going to patrol the shoes? Oh my so much fun, I love Elvis’ reading glasses and Puck’s eye mask and ‘who’s their whiskers’ and Lupin’s twitching tail in panel one, along with just everything!

Georgia, does Elvis patrol your shoes?

    • Georgia Dunn
      July 9, 2015, 2:28 pm | # | Reply

He does check inside them often, for some reason! (We like to suspect he is trying to keep us safe from spiders? Maybe? But I know in my heart it’s probably something much crazier, ha!) Lupin loves the Man’s slippers, he likes to give them a “bite n’ kick” now and again!

Many years ago, when I was a teenager, I noticed that the family cat had suddenly become very interested in my shoes one afternoon. When I took a look inside, there was a poor terrified mouse curled up in the toe!

My Thumper likes to dive into slippers – she’ll just go head-first into one, squeaking merrily away and pushing it across the room.

And when we throw one of her little mice in, she REALLY goes nuts!

I started closing the cats out of the bedroom a while back. At the time it was during the ‘Occupy’ movements in Portland, DC and elsewhere. The joke was the the cats has their own Occupy the Hallway movement every night until they got used to the new program. They occasionally get to sleep in the bedroom now and every once in awhile there is some Hallway Occupation at night.

A friend and I had a “painting day” today. I showed her the strip and we spent some time on the last panel. I – um – am not good at composition but can occasionally recognize really good when I see it. You have Elvis’s elongated shape left, Puck’s rounded shape right, and Lupin off-center in a Golden Triangle (is that what it’s called?). It is just perfect. It’s two-dimensional, but the hilarity gives it a third dimension. Paper, ink, watercolor, humor. What a choice of media. 🙂
