The Man would like everyone to know this is as close as I’ve gotten to accurately depicting his daily life with Elvis.

So familiar with the concept of one of the cats becoming “my cat” when she is doing something my man finds displeasing. 😉

also <3 ride the tide, of course. zen master puck.

I’m more convinced than ever that while they would have a very puffy stand off if they ever met, Elvis and my cat are soul mates. Chenille constantly bites my feet, and seems to consider any movement I make it bed a personal insult…

One of my cats is totally “ride the tide” and one of his official titles is The Best Bed Buddy. His sisters, not so much.

So, I’m curious – what is Lupin’s role in bedtime tales in real life? Does he ride the tide? plant himself between feet? hog the pillow? …?

Lupin sleeps on our nightstands, and awakes with the vibrating cellphone alarms in the morning! We think he does this not to miss breakfast, as when he was a kitten he would sleep wherever and if we could not find him (as being deaf he does not hear us calling for him) sometimes Puck and Elvis would gobble up the morning food! Occasionally I awake to him sharing my pillow, too. 🙂

my girl cat was channeling Puck this morning, nestling right into my lower back as I lay on my stomach…heaven. That is, until her brother decided to pull an Elvis and bite my toes. Poor Cassie got ejected at no fault of her own.

I miss having a cat who will attack the foot monsters. My current feline just watches for a minute the gets up and walks to another part of the bed. Usually around my face.

This is why I have to close the bedroom door! Love the “kick, kick, kick” When my sweet Abby was alive she would lie across my neck, but only if I were sleeping on my left side.

One of my cats used to ride the tide until she’d had enough of it. She would then sit back and wait until I was lying on my side, and wedge herself against the small of my back. Once there she would morph into a surprisingly leaden weight, thus preventing me from turning anymore – I know this could all just be a fluke – but how on earth do cats work these things out?

      February 23, 2015, 2:42 pm | # | Reply

I do believe that cats have control over gravity and can become heavier than lead when they want to! Think about how heavy their feet are when walking across a belly…it’s like an elephant on four dainty feet!

Hahaha! Eclipse is a lot like Puck sleeping with my folks. Byte, who’s strangely partial to my bed, usually just leaves when I start moving. Poor boy, I don’t do it on purpose.

Medb (named for a Celtic Goddess) is the only one of our three that bites toes in bed, but she does it to the point where I keep a small folded blanket at the foot of the bed and use it to cover my feet (on top of the other bedcovers) so that if she continues to bite, I can’t feel it anymore! The Grey Mouser (named for a Fritz Leiber character), otoh, only bats my husband’s nose in the middle of the night, demanding food (he once gave in and now is doomed for eternity to get up at 2 AM to feed them). Loki (Norse trickster, not comic), the only boy, is the only one who doesn’t do something wicked to us when we’re trying to sleep! Hmmmm….

OK– so I love this comic first of all. Second of all while I have heard the phrase “the cat’s pajamas” to describe something awesome, I have never seen the visual representation until now, and I must say the cats’ pajamas are as fabulous as I’ve always heard. 🙂

Absolutely not allowed to move at my house. I am merely the provider of the warmth. So I have learned over the years that it is safer to just stay still…and let them use me as a warmer/pillow. I only pay the rent.

But will be getting a new tatoo of ‘Ride the Tide’!!!!!!!

Pickles would sleep right on top of me, regardless of whether that’s on my stomach/chest or on top of whatever side I’d rolled over to. Her siblings however would generally sleep anywhere they could find a spot (I don’t think I remember any of them being foot-biters). Their mom, Tinkerbell, always had a spot right above my head or on the pillow though.

Aww I love this! When I was in high school, we had a cat and she wasn’t allowed in people rooms, but sometimes I’d let her sneak in. I’m a side sleeper so she’d nestle up behind my knees. I really miss that! I love Elvis attacking the Man’s feet 😀

Lol. I used to have a very sweet, incredibly laid back old tortie who would “ride the tide” at THE most inappropriate times…*cough cough*… When she was comfy in bed, she was *not moving* no matter what was going on. Knew my bf was a keeper when he took that in stride. 😛 Now we have a very intense rescued Siamese who will allow NO MOVEMENT when he is being the little spoon, or else (and I have the scars to prove it)!

    Oh, this is so perfect.

Digby – my oldest at 15+ – is the only serious bed-mouse hunter in the pack, and luckily he seems to have outgrown the need to hunt at night. It’s become a more decorous affair now, mostly a game played by mutual consent. At night, he settles somewhere alongside of me. Ptolemy takes up his station in the crook of my knees; Fosdick the Spherical Jellicle becomes a massive dead weight against my back. Annabel is my little spoon, and she’s happy to roll with the punches. If I roll over to my other side (not without considerable difficulty, what with everyone else pinning me down), Annabel simply gets up, takes the overland route, and cheerfully re-settles herself into spoon position.

What Juliet does, I’m not sure. She is tiny and black and quietly alpha. She keeps her own counsel.

My girl is a ‘ride the tide’ type.

Except in the mornings when it’s chilly, she’ll come and cut off my breathing until I let her under the covers – following me around the bed if I dare to turn over to avoid suffocation by kitty.

Our first cat, Princess Alexandra of Denmark/Sandy, would, depending on her mood, work her way under the covers and lie between my legs or drape herself across the top of my head on the pillow. Our second cat Tabitha would curl up and go to sleep on my daughter’s legs, and not even twitch an ear when she rolled over, just ride the wave.

Jingle Belle Katt starts out the night snuggled between my hubby and me. When I roll over from my left side to my right, she walks over me to settle on my side of the bed, snuggled into the curve of my tummy. (Possibly because when my hubby moves, the kitty gets squished between us). In the morning, we usually find her down at the foot of the bed on the folded quilt.
