I was expecting the other kind of pen–pig, or baby–not a writing pen. Enjoyed the surprise.

Elvis is one of those cats (and people) who thinks it’s the jury’s job to find the defendant guilty. 🙂

This has really happened to Lupin several times and with several different items. His curiosity + his snow white coat = occasionally wild colored kitty.

The worst was a vase full of daffodils we had been carefully keeping away from the boys, as we did not want them to eat them and get sick. We had put it high on a shelf in a middle of a wall, but Lupin being Lupin found a way up there and–thankfully–only smelled them. However, from sticking his face in them (and even after we washed him thoroughly with warm water and soap) we found ourselves with a bright yellow cat for about 3 weeks.

Did he mind being washed? Lupin seems to be taking the soaping very well, my kitty would have made her point physically as well as legally

No, no he did not, ha! The biggest fiction I’ve ever written into this strip were the panels where Elvis and Lupin were each sitting calmly in the tub (in this strip and the skunk one for Elvis). In real life if we have to wash them, we use a damp wash cloth and a little (very little) soap, followed by another damp wash cloth until all the soap is gone. A vet suggested it years ago and while it can be very slow, I highly recommend it!

And yes, the calm cats in the tub is more fictional than adorable suits and speaking, ha!

No evidence indeed. Poor Lupin, he does not have happy ears either time he’s grilled by those persistent CN reporters! In our house, the dachshunds blame everything on The Neighbor’s Cat. Lupin, memorize this: “It was The Neighbor’s Dachshund!”

LOVE it! Reminds me of my first Siberian cat, a little white boy with black ears and a black tail. He got into our fireplace ashes several times (despite what we had thought was an adequate cover), ALWAYS just before company was due or we were needing to leave. He’d just run up to me, absolutely filthy, and be shocked when I hauled him off for a bath! I think he was proud of his ingenuity at getting into the fireplace.

This reminds me of when Elvis got beat up by the skunk. I can’t wait to see what causes Puck to get a bath!

I love, love, love Mondays and Thursdays! What happened to Puck’s leg? This has probably been questioned/answered before. Thanks.

Hi Amee! There’s a more detailed version in the “About Puck” page of the site, but the short version is when Puck was a kitten he was attacked by something (the vet believed it was a bird of prey 🙁 ). The person who owned Puck’s litter decided to leave him outside to languish, and their neighbor seeing him injured and without help, catnapped him to the vet! The people at Purrfect Pals in Washington state operated on Puck, saving his life as what was left of his leg was very infected. He came to live with us when he was 12 weeks old, a little after his operation. He is a wonderful cat and we are so grateful to his neighbor who did the right thing and rescued him!

I’m so glad Lupin didn’t get sent to the pen for getting into the pen!

(Did his little suit have to be dry-cleaned?)

I caught my calico red-pawed once – I was dying paper for origami with food coloring, and she sat in the way in a moment of distraction.

That is fabulous!! Yes, when he was there (around December 2010-February 2011 I believe) he was called “Legolas.” After we adopted him there was a write up in their newsletter about him and the Tipper fund, that maybe can still be found!
