Ha! Wonderful!! And a Beatrix Potter reference, yay!!! The picture of the boys reading books reminds me very much of Beatrix Potter.

In 1940 My mother read to me frequently. We had the original Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit book, & many others. But I don’t remember Tom Kitten.

It’s an honor just to be nominated.

I have to confess—that was the original line!! I went back and forth between the two, and finally settled on his honored surprised line. It was so close though!

So is Kitten’s name gonna be Beatrix? Cute! We had a temporary cat my brother and I named Elizabeth after a cat in a children’s book who had a strong resemblance to the real cat.

Kitten is looking so very much better and Elvis reacting to his Crabby Cat Nomination had me laughing SO much!

I think the kitten would be Tom, after the Tale of Tom Kitten, but Beatrix is a wonderful name for a cat. My husband named our girl kitten Beatrix. She’s now grown up to be Princess Beatrix!

Except there’s already a Tommy, and the kitten’s a girl… I like “Beatrix” for a name, especially with the recent news that there’s gonna be a new book by her.

Hah! Of course Elvis has been nominated for World’s Crabbiest Cat – but I agree with The Woman, he’s not likely to win it given his recent behaviour {g}! I’ll have to look for that Beatrix Potter story, it’s one that I don’t remember off-hand….

OK, you got me. I had to go reread the book. Is it significant that the mother cat in the book was named Tabitha? Perhaps a cat we’ve met was named after that character? The baby cat looks most like Mittens, so I hope that means she is indeed a girl kitten. Now “pit, pat, paddle, wat” is going to be going through my brain for the rest of the day;)

How appropriate for “Right to Read Week.” Though I’ve been retired from teaching for 10 years, I’m thinking of how I could have used todays episode of BCN as a starting point for so many things.

The Kitten (Beatrix?) is looking mighty spritely this morning with her cute little smile. Elvis is reporting the good news, coffee cup in hand. He is honored to be nominated for Crabbiest Cat this year but he is smiling way too much for that award! And The Toddler and The Baby are NOT going to just have The Kitten for fostering….. Oh no, she’ a keeper!

This was nice. Loved the update on the kitten by Elvis. It seems that once the introduction into the household, even temporarily, he lost all his poofiness and aggression. Glad to see that he is a lot softer than he puts on, even if that isn’t always the case.

Sweet story, but I admit I’m surprised none of the boys are jealous of the very cute kitten. It’s a kitten, and its soooo cute, and it’s getting attention. This has to take a comic turn at some point, no?

Really it’s just an honor to be nominated. The other nominees are so crabby and wonderful, but a win would be really special. After all, he’s worked so hard to perfect his crabbiness.

Lupin with his hat shoved back off his head, his tail swish, “always dodging the press” perfect!! I think you made the right choice with I’ve been nominated? He’s been a lot less crabby this year…so far. The kitten looks very comfortable and I just noticed she still has Buzzy Mouse with her.

Beatrix Potter, The Tale of Tom Kitten and The Roly-Poly Pudding! Those books caused me much angst as a child, those rotten rats Anna Maria and Samuel Whiskers meant to put Tom into a roly-poly pudding and cook him.

Lupin is so cute with his frown when the man wouldn’t answer him. Of course he can’t understand the man can’t hear him. Elvis in his pj’s, staying up all night with the kitten and surprise at being nominated for crabby cat, I loved it all.

YES!!! A lunch box would be perfect. I’d happily pay $20 or $30 for a lunch box with the boys, maybe at the anchor desk with Buzzy Mouse or something? My current lunchbox is from a webcomic – that died of cobwebs years before you started BCN.

(Pardon me. I found BCN last year – and promptly lost the address, argh. Just came back a couple of weeks ago. Love Puck, Lupin and Elvis <3 <3 so much personality!)

And for Kraunca just below, I imagine the Woman was just talking to Elvis the way one might talk to the computer or the car keys. ("There you are! I thought maybe Puck had hidden you under the bed.") She has been pretty observant among the Family – she noticed Elvis getting puffy about the foreign cat last time, so she's teasing him about calmly purring now.

I did! Once a character’s name is revealed, I try to do my best to update their strips. Unless their name is a clue to a particular plot or mystery.
