I submitted the designs yesterday, and Zazzle has to check and approve them first. (One reason I like Zazzle).
What is an Invisible Lupin mug, tote, or tee shirt? Just what it sounds like–a completely white surface where a certain cat prone to invisibility may or may not be hiding…. You’ll be able to tell when you see his green eyes and big grin.
And there will be an entirely NEW item, too–an Invisible Lupin throw pillow! Imagine being able to come home to Lupin curled up on the couch! If only you could find him….

I got my book last week and I read it slowly, savoring it like a good box of chocolates. I would absolutely love a Beatrix print.
A very dear friend of mine gave me a white vase with only the blue eyes, ears and nose showing and a pink rose. It was perfect for my cat Princess, looked just like her. When Princess passed at age 17, I knew where her ashes would go. She loved the snow and I always had to make sure she didn’t get lost. She would let the snow fall on her and if I let her she would be completely covered. The thing they do keep us on our toes.
Yup, the theme from “Jaws” comes right to mind, even though I never actually saw the movie! Invisible Lupin is irresistable, and Pucky’s wonder at the sheer fluffiness of the new bath mat is a sight to behold! I feel a little sorry for Elvis, though, given when we all no doubt suspect is about to happen {g}….
Elvis looks SO relaxed and laid-back. Very un-Elvisly. Lupin, of course, is about to put Elvis back into ‘Elvis everyday’ mode.
Were Bea still resident, would she put a stop to Lupin’s prank? One suspects so.
At first, I thought there was a Toddler’s foot on the side of the tub, but I guess that’s just bath paraphernalia.
Georgia, one of us has a problem here with “fluffy”. A fluffy bunny rabbit is solid? I thought the whole point of fluffy was to not be solid. You know, fluffy clouds and such.
In other news, what if the new batmat is one of those that does not hold its dye firmly? Would we be seeing a modern Blue Boy, Ma’am?
But you have to understand that a “bunny rabbit” in this case is not an actual bunny rabbit, but a numerical coefficient of fluffiness. So he’s not trying to imply that a bunny rabbit is “solid”, as in “hard”. It’s like saying it’s a “solid 8” on a scale of 1 to 10.
(And if you want to get technical, a bunny rabbit’s fur is not a liquid or a gas, so it really is a solid. But still quite fluffy!)
I’ve had a bath mat in my Amazon wish list for about 6 months, that I want to get just for my cats to lay on. It is one of those microfiber mats that looks like it’s made up of hundreds of soft foamy fingers. Do a search for JustNile Microfiber soft bathroom floor mat and you’ll see what I mean. Today’s strip must be a sign for me to move it to my shopping cart!
Having just taken our boys to the vet, we were wondering how Puck, Elvis, and Lupin behave when they are getting their annual check-ups. Hiding, growling, passive resistance, or best behavior because they love the doctors who took care of them in their times of need?
Puck hides, Elvis resists, and Lupin explores the entire office and introduces himself to everyone, ha! I have several strips written about vet visits for the future.
I love Pucky’s reaction to the bath mat’s rating on the Floof Factor scale – “Gah!” That’s how I react when I’m shocked too! (I imagine if I had a tail, it would also poof up!)
Love! And I didn’t see Lupin right away, either. He really IS invisible when he’s against the white porcelain. (i was wondering why Puck was anchoring!).
Invisible Lupin and Poofy Elvis brings to mind an image of Lupin trying to take off running and the mat sliding out from under his feet and disappearing out of the frame behind him leaving him where he was with Lupin on him and Elvis all poofed up yelling “Get off me, by Cat I Swear Revenge”
At our house we refer to the cat hair accumulation as a small auxiliary cat.
For the record (a complete non sequitur), I was just thinking that one of the best lines so far this year was Beatrix saying she had missed calls from Elvis and needed to “call him back before he puffs”. Just perfect, as was this strip. My cats at the news desk shirt gets many inquiries, too.
Finally got my BCN books, one from B&N & other from Amazon. Went to Zazzle website, & would like print of group picture above products offered. Is this possible?

In regard to the merch, I thought you would have a coffee mug with a temperature sensitive disappearing/reappearing Lupin. A puffy/not puffy Elvis would be good, too. Sorry, Puck, no ideas for you. Anyone else have any ideas?
By the way, I don’t know what the record is for most characters in a comic strip, but BCN must be close. I get 24, counting Freddie and Tillie, and the robber mice as four.
All of the mugs I have found where you can order some quantity of your own design start out dark and turn white when heated. That would make it difficult to have Lupin’s clothes disappear, unless he were dressed in a black tux or something monochromatic like that. You could apply a design using negative space over top of the black background, so the black background would only show where you wanted to see it, along with his eyes and ears, and the black would then disappear when heated, leaving only the eyes and ears on a white background.
If you could find someone who could produce the mugs (since it would be time-prohibitive for you to do it yourself and still be able to produce a comic and raise two kids), you can make your own thermochromic paints in a variety of colours.
I will definitely buy a Beatrix print as soon as it appears! I really would like a print of Beatrix as the tiny, cute kitten she was when she first appeared in the strip.
I love Elvis’s expression in the second panel! Such a seasoned, no nonsense reporter! Over to you, Puck.

I’m so unobservant I didn’t notice invisible Lupin until the very last panel. I had to go back and read it again to pick him up in the second one. But that’s okay. I usually read it and then go back and really look at the pictures. They are so colorful and lovely, and really quite funny by themselves. One of my favs is on the babies birthday when adorable little Beatrix dashes by with a streamer. She’s not featured in the rest of the strip that day, but the story told by that one pic is so great, our little girl, busy Bea, racing happily by, doing her part, and “running the house” in her own little, adorable way. Forgive my excitement, my BOOK is coming today and I just can’t wait. Getting all my chores done this morning so I can sit and stare at all the pictures!!!!

I would love to figure out how to get a temperature sensitive mug design, but so far I have not found a way to do it–yet! It’s a great idea though!
