Mine have a sensor built in for when I wear either my work uniform or dressy clothes…they totally ignore me until I’m leaving then decide to make sure everyone knows I have cats by leaving a ton of hair on my pants!

I finally gave in and bought one of those robot vacuums, hoping to keep up with fur balls from my two long haired kitties. My ‘mean girl’ cat solved that by repeatedly sitting on the vacuum at 2am. That punished me by setting off the vacuum’s error bleeps and waking me, and eventually killing the vacuum altogether!
I have a Neato robot vacuum. I was sure the cats would be terrified of it, since they’re fraidy cats. Weirdly enough, they will actually lay in front of it when it’s coming right at them, and not move until the last minute. Then they just stare at it, annoyed. I’ve heard similar reports from people who have Roombas. So weird! I can’t figure out why the cats aren’t afraid of it. Maybe because they’re bigger than it is?
All of this talk of robot vacs is making me really want to get one to see how the boys would react! I like your theory that because they are bigger than it cats feel safer….
It’s awesome. Just one word of advice if you get one: don’t use the automatic “scheduler” feature. When you have pets (or toddlers, for that matter) it’s best for a human to give a quick check for random small suck-uppable toys and cat gakk before the robot starts sucking everything up.
Oh. My. Gosh. A musical about Breaking Cat News would be crazy! And since Sir Webber has already written a very successful musical starring people in cat suits, nobody would bat an eye at the concept. For what it’s worth, I think a Breaking Cat News musical would be far more entertaining than Cats any day.
Both the first appearance and this one are so true and so funny! The vacuum is a weekly part of my cats’ lives so I’d love it if it appeared here more often. Your cats are priceless and funny, and I bet they got that all from you!
I’d love to see them! It’s funny you bring up videos, we were just given a new Simplicam and we’re hoping to have some videos of the boys soon! (As in… Possibly even tonight… I make no promises… But we do have a new laser pointer…).
One of the reasons, having gotten a leather couch once, i stuck with it. I miss plush, soft sofas, but just being able to wipe them down makes my day so much easier.

Our cat thinks that that the robo-vacuum is a toy specifically designed to scare the dog. So he rides it around like it’s his throne. We stopped letting the thing go at night a long while back, & the cat is closed in the basement when we are gone so we usually only Rhumba© while we’re away.
This is great! I am always joking about how when I de-hair everything the cats make it their mission to re-hair!
